It's almost here, the Swim Across the Sound.

17 miles across Long Island Sound, Port Jefferson to Captain's Cove, Bridgeport CT.

We have a new member to our team, speedy, young Julia Green. Julia is Marcia's daughter, so the genes are in place and we are looking forward to handing the reins of Open Water swimming to the next generation of swimmers.

Manhattan Relay Video Now Available!

Thanks to Marcy for putting together another awesome video of us in action in the waters around Manhattan. What a great time we had! (We really enjoyed our brief stay on the police boat at the end of the race.) Looking forward to our second event of the summer, the Swim Across the Sound in Bridgeport, CT on August 7th!

I have a surprise for the ChannelingCARE relay, I will reveal it to you on Friday after the meeting with the NYCswim 'Powers that Be', www.nycswim.org . I wish everyone (alternates) could join us on the relay this Saturday, it has been a long 8 months of paperwork, qualifying swims (even though, we all have successfully swam across the English Channel) and FUNDRAISING.

A wonderful cause, St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, we are trying to help.

The time is approaching FAST, are we ready for some water fun... you bet!

I was hoping to post a 10 minute video preview of the ChannelingCARE relay, unfortunately I am running into a brick wall, BUT I have posted it FaceBook on the Channeling Care page. I will continue to work on the blog problem but I will be using Facebook if I can't figure it out. Spread the word please.

Excitement, the ZaZa suits are in and the donations continue to help St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation.
Less than 4 weeks away, we're all practicing, booking hotels in Manhattan and getting ready for June 12th.
It's been weird weather up here in CT, cold and windy, not very welcoming to practicing out in the open water.

Everything is falling into place

All is going well,
we are all back in the water, fundraising letters are going out for St. Vincent's Medical Center Foundation and it feels like we're 30 years younger,

we are so excited about our NEW swim suit for the ChannelingCARE team.

Here we are getting ready to swim 36 minutes in 48F cold water out at Brighton Beach/Coney Island. Needed to get the 'job done' for a recent cold water qualifying swim to be on the relay. Luckily, baby Sana slept in Daddy's pouch carrier while the bigger kids played in the sand. "Mommy why is the water so cold? And why are you swimming?" Funny my mom used to ask the same question. Why not...

I'm out here just north of Chicago, swimming up a storm to keep up with y'all in our June relay.
Looking forward to it and thinking about it a lot when I swim and even when I'm dry. Looking forward to seeing so many friends.

Welcome everyone,

I'd like to introduce to you a group of ladies who love water and helping people.

The swimmers are: Marcia Cleveland, Meryem Tangoran, Elaine Howley, Elizabeth Fry, Marcella MacDonald, Bonnie Schwartz, Erica Moffett and Margaret Peterson.

We all have a connection, a destination... the English Channel.

All of us have crossed the channel as a solo swimmer or part of a relay.

I hope you enjoy reading and following us.

Our swimming missions are:
first on
Saturday, June 12th, 2010, a relay race around Manhattan Island
and later in the summer,
Saturday, August 7th, 2010, SwimAcrosstheSound, a race across the Long Island Sound.

We are raising MONEY to help patients and families battling with CANCER.

Our special foundation,
the St.Vincent's Medical Center Foundation, is based in Bridgeport, CT continues to bring hope and understanding for many.
